START POINT: Newport Community Hospital

TRAIL DESCRIPTION: Walk on city streets, road shoulders, through wooded areas with views of the Pend Oreille River and on the Upper Wolf Trail. Walk through city parks and around the Pend Oreille County Courthouse. Trail surface in the wooded areas can change because of weather. Seasonally you will be able to view a number of varieties of wild flowers. White tail deer are often seen while walking.

DIRECTIONS TO THE START POINT: The Newport Community Hospital, 714 N. Pine (Pine and Scott), can be reached by following US 2 north from I 90 for approximatley 50 miles. On the one way grid in Newport, turn left on 1st Street and follow to Scott, turn right on Scott to the Hospital at the intersection of Pine and Scott. Ask for the Volkssport Box at the Reception Desk located on the right side of the hall after entering the main doors.
